2026-27 ஆம் நிதியாண்டில் தமிழ்நாட்டின் கடன் ரூ. 10.71 லட்சம் கோடியைத் தாண்டுகிறது. இதுவரை தமிழ்நாட்டை மொத்தமாக ஆண்ட அரசுகள் வாங்கிய கடனைவிட, கடந்த ஐந்தாண்டு ஒரே ஆட்சிக்காலத்தில் திமுக அரசு அள்ளிக் வாங்கியிருக்கிறது. இந்த அரசு வாங்கிய கடனுக்கு வட்டி கட்ட செலவு செய்துகொண்டிருக்கும் ஒவ்வொரு ரூபாயும் கல்வி, மருத்துவம், கிராமத்திற்கான சாலைகள் ஆகியவற்றுக்கு செலவு செய்ய வேண்டிய நிதியிலிருந்து கையாடல் செய்யப்படுகிறது. த.வெ.க அரசின் செயல்பாடு - மக்களுக்கு செலவு செய்யவேண்டிய பணத்தை வீணடிப்பதறாக இருக்காது. தமிழக மக்கள் மீது புதிய வரிகளை சுமத்தாமல், இழப்புகளைத் தடுத்து, வருவாயை பெருக்கி, புதிய வழியில் பொருளாதார கட்டமைப்புகளை உருவாக்குவதாக இருக்கும்.
